THE PLAN - that came from the bottom up
The Plan, produced and directed by Steve Sprung, received its world premier at the BFI Film Festival in October 2018. Two weeks later it was shown at the Lisbon documentary film festival.
Below are support and review statements.
“Described as ‘a film letter in parts’, ‘THE PLAN that came from the bottom up’ is a thought-provoking and extensive film essay which chronicles the extraordinary story of the Lucas Aerospace engineers. A poetic exploration of this incredibly timely story in history.” UK Film Review
“An urgent and gripping
piece of work, reflecting on the dark consequences of capitalism on society and
proposing an encouraging alternative for a troubling present.” London
Film Festival
“This film
captures a unique moment in our history - highly skilled workers showing
how to turn swords into ploughshares. Please support this film, see it, promote
it and discuss it. If we want to transform society, this is a good place to
start.” Ken Loach
"This
is an amazing story that needs to be told. Britain still ploughs huge amounts
of resource into the arms trade, when we really should be diversifying our
economy urgently.” Caroline Lucas, Green Party MP
“The Lucas Plan holds out hope that
production can be transformed to create a fairer, greener world. This will be a
must-see film for every trade unionist.” Frances O’Grady, General Secretary,
TUC
“With climate injustice
fanning the flames of inequality all around the world the most urgent question we
face is how we transform our destructive economic model towards one that is
good for people and the planet. This film needs to be watched and shared – for
it will inspire, educate and transform what we think is possible”.Asad
Rehman, Executive Director, War on Want
